Due to growththe position of Pipelines Discipline Manager has become available to join our vibrant team based in Manchester or Aberdeen

The pipeline design and engineering consultancy team describes the function consisting of the non-standard disciplines including pipelines, subsea, materials and related ad hoc consultancy specialists.

We are growing our energy sector engineering team for UK projects in the energy transition and conventional oil & gas fields and are seeking candidates for this discipline leadership position to manage and grow the existing team and provide technical leadership to the function.

The Discipline Manager reports to the Director of Engineering and is responsible for functional and line management of the discipline and the delivery of engineering design on projects through its people, processes, and systems.

The role comprises a mix of technical expert, study management responsibilities and technical business development in support of Costain's leading edge strategy for the pipeline design and engineering consultancy team (consisting of the non-standard disciplines including onshore & offshore pipelines, subsea, materials and related ad hoc consultancy specialists).

Working arrangement : This is a hybrid role with 2/3 days based at the Manchester or Aberdeen office with the option for dynamic working.

Role Requirements


• Degree qualified in engineering or equivalent.


• 15 years' experience in technical delivery and management.


• Experienced in pipelines and technical specialist with significant knowledge of the oil and gas industry.


• Good knowledge of the major project delivery process from work winning to project handover.


• Knowledge and experience in the energy transition field particularly CCUS and hydrogen transportation.


• Team development and mentoring.
