Service: Perth Floating Housing

Based:
Perth & Kinross

Hours:
Full Time 37 hrs**
Salary:£12 per hour - Cost of living award pending**

Contract Permanent

Because People Matter - Work with Us:

Homelessness and Prevention

Turning Point Scotland is the biggest provider of services to people experiencing or at risk of Homelessness across Scotland, delivering support to around 2000 individuals on any given day, 4500 per year.

Perth Floating Housing Support Service provides support to adults with varying needs within their own homes.

The service aims to enable individuals to develop the skills required in order to independently maintain and sustain their tenancies.

Covering the whole of Perth-shire the service uses an outcomes focused approach working with individuals for approximately 6-9 months to achieve mutually agreed outcomes and ultimately preventing homelessness.

We believe that in many cases, Homelessness is entirely preventable. Where Homelessness is not or cannot be, prevented the experience should be brief and non-recurring.

We provide support to people who are;

  • Experiencing Homelessness
  • At risk of Homelessness; and / or
  • Need some support to protect their home
Around two thirds of our work is with people who are experiencing Homelessness.

We believe a menu of options should be available to individuals to prevent, or support someone to move on from Homelessness.

This ensures we use a 'no wrong door' approach to accessing service and behind this door, people should be met with a 'Whole System Approach' to support.

We deliver a range of outreach services including Housing Support (Short and Long Term / Intensive); Housing First and Crisis Support.

Our ambitions are high for those we help; we want everyone to reach their full potential, to become active and valued members of their community, to acquire the life skills and decision-making capabilities to lead a stable productive and fulfilling life.

We will challenge, coach and encourage to help achieve this, sometimes involving the peer support of others who have shared similar personal journeys.

We are also active members of the European Federation of National Organisations with the Homeless (FEANTSA) and founding Members of the Housing First Europe Hub.

The role is for a Support Practitioner, within this you will be required to deliver 1-2-1 support to individuals in their own home, enabling them to develop skills required to live independently, this can cover a variety of areas from assisting with budgeting, finances, keeping on top of day to day household activities to helping individuals to access appropriate supports from other agencies.

You will be required to keep accurate notes regarding support visits carried out and also to complete risk assessments, support plans and reviews for each individual you key work.

You will be provided with all of the training, support and equipment required to successfully fulfil the duties of the role, you will be required to do lone working but you should also be able to work well with others in the team and external agencies.

The service operates Monday to Friday 8am-8pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am-6pm with
the core hours being Monday - Friday 9am-5pm.

This is a full time 37 hour post.

As a Support Practitioner, you will work with individuals who have a wide range of support needs, providing them with practical and emotional support and encouraging them to achieve their own personal outcomes in all aspects of their daily lives e.g.

keeping safe, meaningful activities, community involvement, physical health, relationships, emotional health and wellbeing.
