As a Team Leader you will be responsible for the day to day supervision and management of a team of Logistic drivers, this will involve management of personnel, monitoring / performance management, sickness, and annual leave following relevant HR Policies and Procedures.

To be familiar with and adhere to service plans policies & Procedures.


The post holders will provide leadership and management direction to the operational teams within our team based at Oxford City Station.

You will work closely with the Senior Operations Manager to ensure that service delivery maintains the standards required as per our contractual arrangements and Service Level Agreements.

South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of emergency, urgent care and non-emergency healthcare services, along with commercial logistics services.


The Trust delivers most of these services to the populations of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire as well as non-emergency patient transport services in Surrey and Sussex.

We serve a population of over 7 million and answer over 500,000 urgent calls a year.

We employ 4,551 staff who, together with over 1,100 volunteers, enable us to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To supervise the operations of the Healthcare Logistics Service, overseeing the day to day running of the service, ensuring adequate stocks of vehicle equipment, cleaning materials and stationary supplies are held at predetermined levels.
  • Organising rotas for delivery and collection schedules and ensuring that staff carry out their duties in a timely, efficient and accurate manner, in accordance with Trust policy, protocol and procedure. This will involve a close working relationship with the Senior Operations Manager.
  • To liaise with Acute Hospitals, within the locality to ensure relevant delivery schedules are fulfilled, meeting with departmental managers to review provision, as necessary, to ensure the needs of the service.
  • To comply with and ensure all departmental staff complies with the Trust's Supplies Policy.
  • To raise orders with nominated companies within contractual arrangements using the designated SCAS electronic procurement system.
  • Ensure that goods received at the Healthcare Logistics base are stored as per manufacturer's recommendations and in accordance with the Trust Health and Safety procedures.
  • To maintain stock levels, real time inventory and ensure maintenance Service dates are adhered to.
  • Ensure accurate records of all good received and issued are maintained in accordance with the Trust policy and that a clear audit trail is maintained.
  • To arrange and monitor scheduled deliveries and collections to all Surgeries, Acute trusts, any other partners within the contractual agreements.
  • To ensure that the Healthcare Logistics vehicles are kept in a roadworthy, clean and tidy manner, reporting any faults or defects in accordance with the Trust policy.
  • To ensure the Healthcare Logistics Buildings are kept in a clean and tidy manner and all emergency exits are kept clear.
  • To supervise and support staff employed within the Healthcare Logistics function and any staff temporarily employed there, overseeing the local induction training, which includes Health and Safety issues within the unit.
  • To ensure all accidents are reported, risks investigated and appropriate documentation is complied accurately. Liaise with the Senior Operations Manager and the Risk Manager to ensure remedial action is undertaken in relation to Health and Safety issues.
