Priory Hospital Enfield provides a full care pathway which includes acute services for both males and females, along with Medium Secure and Low Secure units for males. The full multidisciplinary team works with those who have a diagnosis of mental illness and associated challenging behaviours.

Job Advert Role Description

As a Maintenance Technician, your primary duty will be to ensure that our patients and service users are within a hospital that is a safe environment for them that adheres to health and safety standards. You will work closely with the Maintenance Manager and small team to ensure that all fixtures and fittings are in excellent condition and equipment is regularly serviced.

The Maintenance Technician works with the Maintenance Manager to undertakes a variety of general maintenance jobs as required (and defined in the Appendix), with particular focus on ensuring that patient related jobs are completed as a priority.

Prioritises the work of the Maintenance team and maintains the Work Request Log.

Works to ensures the maintenance of a well decorated, safe and comfortable environment throughout the hospital, in line with quality standards, and follows work processes which comply with statutory regulations under the guidance of the Manager.

Identifies damage, faults and other related issues and works with the Manager to prioritise their repair or replacement whilst ensuring that environmental conditions continue to meet quality standards and statutory regulations, under the guidance of the manager.

Works to complete local maintenance checks are carried out at the intervals as prescribed in the General Property Maintenance Guide and reporting any issues to the Mananger.

Works with contractors establishing local relationships, ensuring appropriate checks are completed and are the first point of contact in the absence of the Manager.

Liaises with local contractors on site, as required, providing local knowledge and guidance, in order that planned and preventative maintenance schedules can be completed in a timely fashion.

Prior to gaining approval to go to 3rd party contractors the Maintenance Lead is responsible for completing an appropriate risk assessment to demonstrate that failure to bring in resource could put service users, colleagues or others at risk.

Ensuring that use of the helpdesk is as a backup or emergency service and not a core maintenance resource.

Raises purchase orders on the behalf of the team where required under the guidance of the Manager to keep within budget.

Works with the Manager to maintain the site Planned Preventative Maintenance Planner (PPM) and works with external contractors to ensure the technical inspections are carried out appropriately.

Provide coaching and guidance to the maintenance team escorts as and when required.

Individuals will not be required, nor should they, carry out any works that require a certification unless they are in possession of an in date and correct certificate.

Participate in On call - out of hours rota.
