Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job summary

Due to a recent investment in the medication safety pharmacy team, we have an exciting opportunity for a confident, enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced Medicines Management Technician with excellent communication skills to work within the specialist field of medicine safety and governance.

This is an exciting opportunity to utilise and further develop skills in this high profile, Trust-wide role supporting and leading on the safety agenda. The role, although based in pharmacy will have strong links to other departments and organisations both within the local area, regionally and nationally.

Main duties of the job

This role requires a technician who can take responsibility for and support the development and monitoring of a range of medication safety parameters. This will include but is not limited to, incident investigations, quality improvement projects, audit work, teaching and the implementation of national alerts as required. The post holder will also support the pharmacy governance agenda which aims to improve the processes within the department to ensure the safe and effective provision of medication to our patients.

About us

Thank you for your interest in this role

Sherwood is nationally recognised as being an excellent place to work and deliver care and have ranked as the best NHS Trust to work for in the Midlands in a recent survey. We are rightly proud of the 5,500 colleagues who work for the organisation and we were the Health Service Journals Trust of the Year in 2020.

The Care Quality Commission rated King's Mill Hospital Outstanding and Newark and Mansfield Community Hospitals as Good. Overall we were rated Outstanding for care.

Trust Pharmacy services are centred in a modern, state of the art hospital on the King's Mill site, which provides excellent facilities for patients and staff. Our modern dispensary and stores are automated and allow supply of medicines via remote connection. Our ethos over recent years has been to provide Pharmacy services close to patients and make the best use of the skills of our staff. To this end most of our wards have a Medicines Management Technician service that concentrates on medicine supply so allowing the clinical Pharmacists to focus on patient safety and optimising treatment.

We would love for you to come and join us.
