English Lecturer to join them on an on-going basis, commencing in January 2023


We are currently seeking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic
English Lecturer to join our
Maths, English, Teacher Training & ESOL department from January 2023.

In this rewarding post you will be delivering teaching on our
GCSE and Functional Skills classes to adult learners and young adults between 16-18.


Working closely with the Head of Department and the rest of the team, you will have the chance to share your knowledge and skills with students to help them achieve at the highest level as well as driving continuous improvement within the College.

In particular, you will have a strong focus on delivering innovative and student led learning.

The working pattern for this role is:


  • Monday : 9:00 -12:30 then 13:30-14:30 and 16:00
  • 17:00

Tuesday: 9:00
  • 17:00

Wednesday 9:00 - 14:30

Thursday 9:00 - 15:45

Role responsibilities

  • To plan learning programmes for groups of students, and to guide them through the learning
process (target setting, action planning, review, progression).

  • To deliver learning, and plan and undertake assessment on an agreed range of programmes, using
an appropriate range of learning methods and activities, including new technologies. In this role to

prepare appropriate essential documents including:
- assessment plans
- schemes of work
- lesson plans
- teaching & learning materials
- individual learning plans
- assignments

The person & qualifications

  • A full teaching qualification
  • A minimum of an A Level in English (though a Degree qualification would be strongly desired)
  • Recent GCSE & Functional Skills teaching experience (ideally within an FE environment)
  • Experience teaching both adults students and 1618 year olds
