Job summary:

We are delighted to advertise this exciting role at the Joint CEMA Group (JCG) Working in The Joint Signal Support Unit (Cyprus), we need an Environmental Specialist.

The JCG facilitates the coordination and delivery of Cyber and Electromagnetic ISR data, effects, force elements and services to Defence, in conjunction with UK and FVEY Partners Across Government, in order to optimise support to strategic, operational and tactical decision makers and commanders.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to embark on a new adventure in their chosen career, The Environmental Officer will work with the Unit SHEP Adviser in ensuring the Environmental Management Systems and relevant certifications are maintained.

You will be part of the Health and Safety Team and will focus on environmental improvements for the entire Estate to help reduce the Unit's carbon footprint.

Tour length is 4 years.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description:

As Environmental Adviser you will cover all the unit areas, therefore this role is varied, including developing strategies, unit data analysis and reporting.

Project work will also be high on the agenda.

Person specification:

The job holder will be accountable for Co-ordinating all environmental matters across the Unit, ensuring all UK environmental regulations and Sovereign Based Areas (SBA) Ordinances are aligned with policy, participating closely on environmental matters with OGD, NGO's (Birdlife Cyprus, Forestry Dept), RoC Ministries (Mines and Quarries), SBA Administration and DIO SEE.

We also need the role to lead with legislative issues for the Station including poaching, Non-Military Development, illegal mining and bird trapping, conduct field surveys to establish a baseline for levels of pollution or contamination on JSSU(Cyp) sites and Carry out a rolling programme of detailed and planned environment audits of the Unit and Station including Lodgers.

Producing written reports and recommendations within 14 days to ensure timely and effective corrective action may be taken by management.

Licences:

• Full UK Driving Licence

Qualifications:

• Certification in Environmental Management
• Level 3 or suite of RAF Halton Environmental courses (6)
• Certification in Occupational Health and Safety
• Level
• Evidence of qualification will be required at interview
• Equivalent Qualifications will not be accepted
