Job introduction

We are looking for a highly organised Financial Assessment Officer, who can work to their own initiative and follow policies and procedures with a high level of accuracy to join our financial assessment team.

About the role

You will be responsible for assessing how much a person with social care needs will be required to pay towards the cost of their care using the Care Act Regulations and Statutory Guidance.

You will support people to understand their charges for care and provide information and guidance on charging rules and our local policies.

You will also help people to claim and receive the right state benefits according to their eligibility.

In some cases you may be required to visit the person to establish and verify their level of financial income and assets and you will be required to operate a number of computer systems pertaining to the financial assessment and benefits data.

You will need to be educated to NQF level 3orable to demonstrate an equivalent level of numeracy and literacy skills.

You will also need excellent communication and inter-personal skills and be able to demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail with reports and figure work.

We will provide individual training to support you in this area of work and you will be able to develop your knowledge and expertise in a broad range of processes relating to financial assessments, eligibility for state benefits, mental capacity, interpersonal skills, legislation and debt issues.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
