Role Summary

To provide underwriting and development support, specifically leading underwriting on commercial and agricultural products. Delivering professional underwriting and administration services with a focus on underwriting, customer service, and broker development.

Role Responsibilities:

Underwriting / Development

  • Develop, negotiate, and support underwriting of new business/renewals within authority and in alignment with underwriting strategy.
  • Achieve sustainable growth by fostering relationships with the company's network of brokers.
  • Provide support to the Business Development Manager.
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage individual work to meet objectives and service levels, ensuring exceptional customer service delivery.
  • Regularly engage with broker offices to enhance broker accounts and establish iFarm as the preferred insurance provider.
  • Offer guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters and support staff.
  • Stay updated on market trends and competitor activities to drive strategic decisions.
  • Assist in evaluating current products to ensure market competitiveness and profitable underwriting.
  • Introduce new products to the market and contribute to underwriting guide and rate development.
  • Communicate with brokers, handle incoming calls, gather necessary information, and manage back-office tasks efficiently.
  • Lead development meetings with Key Brokers to expand broker accounts.
  • Analyze online processes for enhancements and operational efficiencies.
  • Provide support with Policy Issuance.

Compliance

  • Maintain knowledge of internal controls and underwriting-related procedures.
  • Uphold Imperium's principle of Treating Customers Fairly.
  • Participate in relevant training for the role.

Education and Qualifications

  • CII qualification is preferred but not mandatory.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience with a proven record in underwriting and relationship development.
  • Effective time management, deadline adherence, and task prioritization skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities and decision-making aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation proficiency.
  • Capability to establish and sustain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with agricultural or commercial insurance products and regulatory frameworks.
