Key responsibilities


Manage a team who provide high quality 1st line HR support and administrative services on behalf of B&Q and other parts of Kingfisher.

Drive a focus on continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to streamline and enhance our processes and ways of working for the benefit of our customers and wider HR team.


  • Manage, develop and coach the team to ensure they can perform at their best in line with our values. Set clear objectives and development plans which are regularly reviewed.
  • Manage the 1st line HR Support service for B&Q and other parts of Kingfisher ensuring we deliver a professional and efficient service.
  • Define and agree service levels and key success criteria for the service and carry out ongoing reviews to ensure requirements continue to be met.
  • Ensure we have clear and standardised processes in place for the range of administrative tasks the team complete including payroll admin, benefit activities, company cars, referencing etc.
  • Liaise with 3rd parties where appropriate to ensure we are working as efficiently as possible with them and that they are providing the service we need.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to gather feedback on the service we provide and work with the wider team to implement suggestions where appropriate.
  • Develop data and insight reporting to support in identifying opportunities for improvements in our ways of working, processes, systems and policies. Work alongside the wider HR teams to address these where appropriate.
  • Ensure that new policies and procedures are effectively incorporated into the service.
  • Support with engaging and/or training key stakeholders in required systems, process and policy changes e.g. HR Admin community.
  • From time to time support the scoping and implementation of projects or systems changes that require technical knowledge and understanding from the team.

Required skills & experience

  • Ability to build strong relationships and work well with others at all levels.
  • Previous experience of managing a team.
  • Good written communication skills, able to create documents/tools and materials for a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Good verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Calm under pressure, able to understand priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Focussed on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Curious with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Experience of delivering projects is desirable.
