Hours 37.5 hours per week including evenings and weekends

Thame Youth Projects group is a small local charitable organisation, working in Thame, which is passionate about the needs of young people. We are supported by the local council, with a committed set of Trustees and enthusiastic group of volunteers.**

Job purpose

To be responsible for the running of the Thame Youth Project activities with a team of existing and new volunteers to deliver a structured programme of projects and activities that endeavor to meet the needs of the young people that use the project now and in the future.


Youth Café/Youth Zone

  • Be responsible for the day to day running of the café/zone
  • Plan programmes, activities, and review accordingly. Ensuring they are engaging for the young people
  • To develop and maintain positive relationships with young people, by using the art of conversation and encouraging participation and involvement in the planned programme.
  • Develop a young volunteer programme
  • Ensure all administration is maintained and stored.
  • Ensure that TYPG's policies are adhered to by all leaders and young people

Schools work

  • Work closely with the schools in Thame to provide support where needed, run 121 mentoring and provide positive activities for vulnerable young people.

Detached Work/Outreach

  • When appropriate undertake detached/Outreach youth work in agreement with the management team to support those not already accessing the services offered.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
General

  • Organisation and administration of all activities, including administration of budgets
  • To maintain the ethos of the organisation by providing a caring, safe and supporting environment.
  • Market activities using relevant communication tools across agegroups and interested parties, including appropriate use of social media and web site.
  • Be responsible for the recruitment, daytoday management, including administration tasks and development of volunteers as appropriate.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other relevant agencies involved in the provision of services to support young people.
  • Raise awareness of youth work provision and needs with community groups and external organisation's.
  • Assist on securing external funding for the continuation of the work of Thame Youth Projects Group.
  • Prepare for and attend supervision meetings and appraisals, as required and to contribute to committee meetings and training courses as appropriate.
  • To always ensure the health and safety of young people, including the adequate completion and implementation of risk assessments.
  • Be responsible for the induction of new volunteers and run volunteer meetings on a regular basis
  • Review all appropriate documentation on an ongoing basis & to make the committee aware of changes in legislation or best practices
  • Manage and record day to day expenditure for budget requirements
  • IT skills with excel/word/PowerPoint are critical for this role.

Essential or Application or

Desirable Interview

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of one year working facetoface Essential A & I with young people this can be from a voluntary position
  • A full clean UK driving licence and access to a Essential A vehicle
  • Experience of delivering Desirable A & I projects/workshops/training with young people
  • Experience of working with youth groups and Desirable A & I clubs
  • Experience of monitoring and evaluation Desirable A & I

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal Essential A & I skills, including being able to positively engage and motivate others
  • Indepth knowledge and understanding of the Essential A & I range of issues relevant to and affecting young people
  • Highly organised and able to manage own Essential A & I workload
  • Ability to determine priorities and targets and Essential A achieve them including when working under pressure.
  • Confident user of IT, including Excel, Word, Essential A & I
PowerPoint & basic financial management.
