A forward-thinking law firm that is transforming the legal industry with a consultant-led approach is looking for a seasoned Credit Controller to join their Finance team. This role is vital for ensuring the smooth and timely collection of customer invoices and will be instrumental in advancing the credit control function.
Responsibilities:
- Enhance current credit control processes, incorporating automation where feasible.
- Coordinate with solicitors to guarantee prompt payment of client invoices and disbursements.
- Maintain accurate records of all collection activities on the finance database for transparency and planning.
- Regularly assess client ledgers to manage funds on account and ensure timely transfers.
- Issue client statements, payment requests, and reconcile client ledgers as required.
- Track new instructions to secure funds on account.
- Work with solicitors and the Financial Controller on strategies for late payments or potential bad debts in line with policies.
- Generate detailed reports on credit control activities, follow-ups, and payment commitments.
- Develop and handle Excel reports for Senior Management.
- Provide guidance and supervision to the current credit controller.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Demonstrated credit control experience in a legal setting.
- Knowledge of Practice Evolve or similar case management systems (preferred).
- Proficiency in automating credit control procedures.
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and ability to meet deadlines and collection targets.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional, confident phone demeanor.
