The Biscuit Factory is an independent art gallery, founded in 2002 and located in the cultural quarter of Newcastle, Ouseburn.

A former Victorian biscuit manufacturing warehouse, The Biscuit Factory underwent a sympathetic refurbishment, ensuring that many of the original and characterful facets of the building such as the beams and brickwork were maintained.


The boasts a number of hireable spaces, including our purpose-built function suite The Biscuit Room and design-led space Artisan, and the gallery also features an independent in-house cafe, The Factory Kitchen, with its own rooftop terrace.

Our events team is currently looking for a Food & Beverage Supervisor.

Our venue has a comprehensive collection of hireable spaces delivering exceptional events from weddings and parties to corporate gatherings and meetings.

The Food & Beverage Supervisor is responsible for overseeing set up and facilitating food and beverage services at all live events on site.


REPORTING TO:
Operations Manager / Head of Events

HOURS: 40 hours/wk

WAGE:
£11.50 per hour

START DATE:

This position exists to ensure that an excellent experience is had by all who attend an event at The Biscuit Factory.

Our venue has a comprehensive collection of hireable spaces delivering exceptional events from weddings and parties to corporate gatherings and meetings.

Professionalism and personality is paramount at all times to maintain the The Biscuit Factory's reputation as a first class venue.

The Food & Beverage Supervisor is responsible for overseeing set up and facilitating food and beverage services at all live events on site.


PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or team leader role in food and drink service
  • Previous experience working behind a bar and waiting on tables (cocktails and mixology experience beneficial)
  • Positive attitude and ability to work under pressure
  • Good communication and people skills
  • Committed to delivering a high level of service
  • Excellent grooming standard

JOB SPECIFICATION

General responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the Operations Manager to oversee set up of tables, buffet stations, bar and any other food and beverage provision required for each event
  • Manage the effective operation of the bar, food and table service during a live event
  • Work with the operations manager to manage wet stock for all events spaces and specific event requirements, including stock rotation and ordering
  • Cellar management including efficient line clearing stock rotation and general cleanlinessParticipating in the
  • Duty Manager rota as required.

Team Leading:

  • Work with the operations manager to create effective staffingplans for each event
  • Work with the most senior member of the team during a live event to ensure the finest customer experience for all guests
  • Manage and motivate a team at each live event
  • Respond quickly and proactively to employee concerns, whether during setup, live event or breakdown
  • Serve as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviour
  • Ensure all staff adhere to company policy and procedures
  • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among the team

Customer Service:

  • Provide excellent customer service to maximise satisfaction and retention
  • Ensure all banquet functions are up to standard and exceed guests' expectations
  • Oversee guest and employee satisfaction
  • Maintain high standards of courtesy, service and cleanliness
  • Respond quickly and proactively to guests' concerns
  • Manage guest complaints to the best of your abilities/knowledge before escalating

Standards:

  • Be aware of and comply with all food, health and safety regulations
  • Familiarise yourself with all event menus and related allergy and dietary information
  • Take pride and responsibility for every dish leaving the kitchen and every drink served from the bar
  • Actively guide and direct your team during an event to ensure consistency and a high level of performance and service delivery

Salary:
£11.50 per hour
