Kirkcaldy, Fife, United Kingdom Innovate Foods Ltd Full time

Do you want to make a genuine difference? Do you want to be part of a close-knit, small team that is focused on improving every day? Would you like the opportunity to develop and grow in a dynamic business that services the food service and retail sectors? If you can answer yes to these questions, you could be the perfect fit for this role.

The business:

We are Innovate Foods, part of the FrostKrone Group, an award-winning producer of delicious, bespoke food products for the retail and food service sectors.

As part of our ongoing drive to optimise our customer experience, we have created a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced Material Planner to join our team.

This will be a pivotal role to ensure business success and will report directly to the site Planning and Stock Control Manager

The role:

As Material Planner you will check that materials stocks match the levels recorded in SAP as production flows through the site.

In this role, you will be expected to identify the root causes of any variances and develop improvement plans to reduce these.

You will also coordinate material flows onto the site from external third-party locations to optimise on-site storage utilisation and to ensure that there are always sufficient materials available on hand to deliver the production plan.

Materials availability is a key enabler for business success and the Material Planner will need to understand when and how to escalate more significant problems.

As such, you must also be able to deal with routine supply issues as they arise where you will be expected to develop contingency plans to de-risk materials supply.

The person:

  • Accurate, diligent, proactive, and trustworthy with an analytical mindset.
  • Able to make decisions and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Not being hesitant to assume complete accountability.
  • Experienced working in an FMCG environment, ideally in a planning environment.
  • Looking for an opportunity to make something their own by establishing strong processes.
  • Able to adapt to change and work under pressure.
  • An experienced IT user, especially MS Excel (the ability to understand and use formulae is particularly desirable).

Responsibilities:

The Material Planner will effectively utilise site storage, ensuring that stock levels recorded in SAP are accurate at all times.

They will work closely with the Warehousing and Logistics Team to control the movement of materials. This includes planning and managing materials transfers into the site and submitting stock requests as required. They will review production plans and work collaboratively to ensure all required materials are available to meet the plan.

This will include managing and adapting to any plan changes, managing any supply shortfalls, and developing contingency plans to supply materials at short notice.

Further activities include monitoring and reviewing all material stock holdings to ensure levels are accurate, including the investigation of discrepancies and effective monitoring and management of obsolete stock to ensure write-offs are kept to a minimum.

  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills.
  • Experienced in SAP B1 (advantageous but can be trained).
The Material Planner will conduct root-cause analyses of stock discrepancies and use these to drive improvements. They will assist with monthly and ad-hoc stock counts and analyse and report on stock at risk. The role holder will also deputise for the Planning and Stock Control Manager during periods of absence.
