Job Title:
Ink Room Operative

Job Purpose:


The main purpose of this role is to support the print presses in the ordering and on-site mixing of inks and coatings, through high standards of stock management, stock control and daily planning.

This role will be integral in the smooth running of the print department and will aim to ensure all print crews are fully supported and able to perform efficiently and effectively.


Main Duties:

  • Responsible for arranging new colour matching and swatches
  • Create new products on the Ink Management System (IMS)
  • Liaise with the Pre-Press department when required for new designs
  • Responsible for visually checking and validating new designs
  • Full responsibility for all elements of stock management; ensuring levels of stock on site to cover specified periods, ordering from relevant suppliers as required.
  • Responsible for regularly checking and updating Ink room duties against the print production plan on PECAS
  • To assemble ink requirements on trolley within 72 hours of printing To ensure ink estimates are updated on IMS after the first print run
  • Deliver coatings to each machine and remove any empty, part, or full barrels to designated storing areas daily, ensuring full pallets are moved to the FLT drop zone for collection
  • On receipt of returned trolleys, restock products in the correct location and dispose of waste
  • To remove and replace waste tin cages when full and organising waste collections. Maintain and use onsite Tecos ink mixing system.
  • To continue to monitor the performance of inks, arranging trial products where necessary and arranging for rematching of any weak performing inks
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork is updated and filed undertake all administration and further duties relating to this function
  • Shift Work 12 hours days shift, 37.5 hours per week.
