Behaviour Specialist Practitioner to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide specialist input to a caseload of individuals, under the supervision of the clinical lead.


We are looking for an individual who has the experience, skill, and passion to take a personal responsibility for ensuring high-quality provision.

This role will include managing relationships with our multi-disciplinary partners; and actively participatingwithin the organisational strategic plan to share a specialist clinically informed perspectives.


We are looking for an experienced Behavioural Specialist Practitioner to take on a visible supportive role within the organisation, with direct responsibility and accountability for the quality of our service provision.


You will have responsibility for holding and managing a clinical caseload, undertaking risk assessments, reviews, and management for individuals with complex needs.

You will be acting under the supervision of our Clinical Lead for planning, prioritising,and delivering assessment, treatment, and discharge of individuals within the service.


As part of this Behaviour Specialist Practitioner role, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team working with a range of individuals with complex needs including mental health, Autism and forensic history.


Whilst reporting to our clinical lead, your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • to complete functional behaviour assessments, analyse direct and indirect data collections, develop interventions, write behaviour support plans and behaviour reports.
- to ensure active support and increasing life skills are paramount to behaviour support plans.
- to monitor and review incident and near miss data on a regular basis, under the supervision of the clinical lead.
- to liaise with external professionals and families.
- to support the staff working with the individuals we support.
- to undertake assessments for referrals ensuring all vital information is gathered prior and during the assessment.
- to be part of ongoing training and development for the wider staff team.
- to safeguard all the individuals we support.
- to demonstrate resilience in challenging situations.

Essential Skills:

  • Degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis/Positive Behaviour Support
  • Recognised Behaviour Analyst Certification Board/Positive Behaviour Support qualification, or willingness to work towards this
  • Experience of working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • To own a driving license and be able to travel across services.
  • To maintain professionalism in challenging situations or in the face of challenging behaviours (physically or verbally)
  • Ability to use software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Have excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage own workload

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience within mental health specialist services
  • Trainer in physical intervention approved by BILD
