Job Title: Team Lead Occupational Therapist

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the CCCS team at the BRI. As the Team Lead Occupational Therapist for Cardiology, you will collaborate with other pathways in CCCS as needed, providing a comprehensive service to patients seven days a week.

We are seeking an innovative and inclusive leader who is dedicated to offering patient-centered care, ensuring that patients receive timely and appropriate treatment.

The ideal candidate will possess advanced skills, capable of treating complex cases, and will challenge existing practices to guarantee patients receive the best evidence-based treatments available.

Main Duties of the Job:

  • Undertake a clinical team leader role in planning, coordinating, and delivering Occupational Therapy services to patients in the Cardiology Service.
  • Provide Occupational Therapy services for the cardiac surgery pathway, including intensive care.
  • Evaluate patient services across specialties and contribute to service development with the Pathway Leads and Clinical Specialists.
  • Lead the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the cardiology pathways with complex presentations, making clinical diagnoses and providing treatment plans.
  • Manage a large team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Therapy Technicians.
  • Offer specialized advice and training to students and healthcare professionals in Occupational Therapy.

Person Specification:

  • Knowledge and Experience
    • A variety of rotational experience relevant to clinical areas.
    • Significant experience working in Occupational Therapy and multidisciplinary teams at a senior level.
    • Experience in managing people, including junior staff and students.
    • Experience in clinical supervision, mentoring, teaching, and service development.
    • Experience in discharge planning and leading staff appraisals.
  • Qualifications and Training
    • Degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, and competent IT skills.
    • Ability to work independently, plan, prioritize, delegate, and excellent organizational skills.
    • Demonstrate assessment, analytical, and reflective skills across a diverse patient group.
    • Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and perform patient assessments and interventions effectively.
    • Knowledge of clinical governance and its application to Occupational Therapy.
    • Ability to thrive in a stressful environment with physical demands and concurrent activities.
