Position-: Buyer (Builders Merchant/Construction)
BHC is one of the UK's leading Structural Steel Fabrication and Construction companies supplying and erecting fabricated steel nationwide within the UK and Ireland.
Along with our construction business, our Builders Merchants store has also continued to expand.
Due to continued expansion, we are looking to recruit a Buyer for our business Builders Merchants/construction business, who will purchase goods, materials, and services to ensure that operational needs and customer requirements are met, whilst taking into account, price, quality, and delivery to ensure continuity of supply.
- To purchase goods, materials components, and services.
- Liaise with other departments and communicate any supply problems, which may impact on business operations.
- Monitor and advise on any issue which presents risk or opportunity to the business.
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers.
- Monitor stock levels.
- Provide analysis on cost, new and existing products, and review cost reduction activities.
- Work closely with the Merchant Shop Manager / Construction Team, and review opportunities for continuous improvement and growth.
- Negotiate improved process and terms of business with suppliers, and review opportunities to make business savings, using negotiating skills and experience.
- Attend fairs, events, meetings, and exhibitions, and remain up to date with new and existing products and seasonal market trends.
- Ensure compliance with company guidelines and purchasing policies and procedures.
- Conduct research for new products and suppliers.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently.
- Planning, organizational, and time managements skills are essential.
- Excellent communicator, with a proactive and pragmatic approach to work
- The ability to work under pressure and have confidence in their decisionmaking.
- Ability to prioritise a demanding and varied workload.
- Proven experience as a buyer
- Previous experience within a builder's merchants, or Construction products is essential.
- A CIPS qualification or working towards CIPS would be highly desirable.
