Job Summary:

A new opportunity has opened up for a Band 4 Technician (Medical Equipment - Community) to join our team. We are searching for a skilled technician to work alongside our engineers in maintaining, repairing, and calibrating medical devices in community clinics and nursing homes in the Tameside, Glossop, and Stockport area.

  • Diploma in Electronics or Equivalent HNC plus Short Courses required
  • Registered (or working towards registration) with the Engineering Council as an Engineering Technician (EngTech)
  • Manage workload independently, collaborate within a team, and communicate effectively
  • Perform maintenance and repair work unsupervised and document all activities

Main Duties of the Job:

As a key member of the Medical Equipment Services team, you will be responsible for maintaining and developing equipment services in the community. You will work across various locations, performing maintenance, repair, and calibration of medical devices, ensuring they meet required standards before clinical use. Your role will also involve installation and commissioning of new equipment and stock control procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

Leadership and Administration:

Ensure security and safekeeping of medical equipment, comply with standards and guidelines, input accurate records, and represent the Trust when interacting with external parties. Contribute to the development of departmental practices and maintain strong customer relationships.

Knowledge and Skills:

Work towards professional registration, communicate effectively, maintain competence in medical equipment maintenance, and engage in continuous learning and development.

Human Resources Management:

Oversee work quality and safety, monitor contractor visits, and support training of new technicians within the department.

Effort and Environment:

Undertake services across various locations, handle medical equipment, and maintain safety standards at all times while interacting with patients and attending to equipment needs.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Professional Electronics knowledge acquired through training to HND or equivalent plus additional Short Courses
  • Experience in Maintaining, repairing and calibrating a wide range of complex medical equipment
  • Effective communication with all internal customers and external stakeholders at all levels of the Organisation
  • Must have a clean driving license and own vehicle
  • Excellent computer Literacy

Desirable:

  • Registered or working towards registration with the Engineering Council as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng)
  • Propose and Review changes in the departmental protocols and procedures
  • Manufacturer specific Maintenance courses
  • Managing and Prioritising own Workload
  • Experience within an NHS EBME Environment
