Recruit to Train Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

This is a 12 month fixed-term training role within Forward Thinking Birmingham Mental Health Service Children's and Young People's Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (CYP IAPT) Service.

To undertake the Postgraduate Diploma in Evidence Based Psychological Treatment for Children and Young people (CBT Route).

The post holder will work within the CYP IAPT service providing evidence based psychological interventions within the Children's and Young People's Access to Psychological Therapies Programme (CYP IAPT).

This intensive training will equip the post holder to provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to Children and Young People with a range of complex problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective.

It is also expected that the post holder will be able to work alongside families.


The post holder will work within the community CYP IAPT SERVICE, FORWARD THINKING BIRMINGHAM as a Recruit to Train Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.

This intensive training post will equip the post holder to provide interventions based on the CYP IAPT care principles and also an evidence based intervention consistent with their training course.

The post holder will work within Forward Thinking Birmingham as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate interventions as required.

The post holder will also attend relevant team and multidisciplinary meeting and evaluate under supervision, high quality evidence-based CBT interventions for referred children and young people in collaboration with professional colleagues and clinical services, to enable continuity of care.
