Role Profile


This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced sports coach to lead our girls' games programme for girls from years 3 to 8.

Our girls' games programme includes netball, hockey, football, cricket and athletics. We are looking for a netball specialist with proven experience of delivering outstanding sports coaching.

Hours of Work
This role has the potential to be full or part time, and term time only or all year round. Saturday working will be required on some afternoons during term time for sport fixtures.

Head of Girls Games_

  • Provide a games programme that caters for the individual needs of each girl at Port Regis. This should allow every girl the opportunity to play sport at a level that suits their ability.
  • Coordinate the termly girls' games programme and liaise with sports staff regarding expertise and preferences.
  • Optimise the deployment of staff within the department and the effective organisation of groups and teams within the girls' games programme.
  • Work with the Director of Sport on the development and delivery of the ethos and strategy for sporting activity and competition; physical wellbeing and fitness; and resilience, both physical and mental.
  • Nurture a lifelong understanding within the pupils of the benefits to health of physical fitness and wellbeing.
  • Work effectively on the organisation of girls' fixtures alongside the Director of Sport.
  • Ensure that the conduct and image of Port Regis children, on and off the pitch, at matches reflects
Port Regis' values.

  • Developing a culture of sportsmanship and the lessons learned in both winning and losing in equal measure.
  • Liaise with the Director of Sport over transport, match teas, use of facilities and equipment, and departmental matters in general.
  • Encourage the integration of boys and girls where possible.
  • Promote sport as part of a balanced healthy lifestyle to be enjoyed by staff and pupils alike.

  • To provide high quality coaching and PE teaching.
  • To be involved with the planning and preparation of coaching sessions and PE lessons, the management of resources and compilation of records and reports.
  • To cooperate with other members of staff, sharing information, ideas and expertise.

  • To support and comply with the School's policies and procedures with regard to the pastoral care of our pupils.
  • All staff are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times and to support and foster the vision and values of the School.

General_

  • Maintain positive and effective communication with all members of the Port Regis community including pupils, staff, parents and Old Port Regians (OPRs); external users; the local community; and outside agencies.
  • Ensure the reflection of Port Regis' values in all communications.
  • With support from colleagues, ensure health and safety and data protection compliance across the
School for pupils, visitors and colleagues. Carry out, review and implement risk assessments as required.

  • Undertake, and implement for staff, professional development as required.
  • Be available to communicate with parents, governors, feeder/senior schools and other groups or individuals on relevant matters.
  • Safeguarding and compliance with our Child & Safeguarding Protection Policy.
  • Adhere to the school's policies as contained in the Staff Handbook.
  • Work with the Marketing Department to promote the School.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school. This will include after school hobbies, prep, cover duties, break/lunch supervision, INSETs, school events and parents' meetings.
