We are inviting a passionate Teaching Assistant to join an all-through special school for boys aged 5-18 years old. Nestled in the beautiful West Sussex countryside, the school is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. We are committed to ensuring the safety, physical and emotional wellbeing of pupils, fostering a nurturing environment that caters to their individual needs.

Interviews for successful candidates will be held after the May half-term. This long-term role is an excellent opportunity for practitioners who are eager to grow and develop in their careers. Permanent staff members will benefit from career development opportunities and salary increments.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Work with children who have complex emotional needs, recognising situations to ensure de-escalation before disruption.
  • Maintain good relationships with pupils, exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively when necessary.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how pupils learn and how to meet their individual requirements.
  • Support the delivery of Mathematics, contributing to the creation of a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist in the preparation of teaching materials and the organisation of the classroom.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to monitor the progress of students and provide targeted support where needed.
  • Engage with pupils to foster a sense of community and act as a positive role model.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children, particularly those with complex emotional needs.
  • Ability to support Mathematics with students throughout KS3 and KS4.
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for students with special needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain good relationships with pupils.
  • A genuine level of care and desire to help students thrive.
  • A driving licence is required due to the rural location of the school.
