Leading boutique bank with an-house legal team of 7 lawyers requires a commercial lawyer at AVP level. Based in the City and mostly office based, you will work closely with the business and as part of a collegiate team. Experience with Financial Services is desirable but not mandatory.
Position Summary
This role will involve close working with other members of the team and with the various business lines and departments. This is a highly commercial and interesting role that would suit someone who wants to be at the heart of both the business and legal team working on a range of legal documents to support the wider banking business. Strong business partnering is required. The role will require a deep understanding of contract law and relevant banking regulation and familiarity with the Bank's operations. This role provides an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to take forward their career in a supportive team oriented environment in-house with varied and interesting work with several development opportunities given the ambition of the Bank and expanding portfolio requiring legal advisory and support on transactions.
Essential Responsibilities:
Subject matter lead on all significant commercial agreements including all Terms and Conditions for Bank of China products and services, payment services agreements, card centre agreements, IT agreements, third party vendor agreements, as well as various internal Service Level Agreements within the Bank GroupProviding a prompt and efficient service to back office departments, including Human Resources, General Administration / Facilities, Financial Management Department and Internal AuditMaintaining a deep understanding regulatory issues relevant to the various commercial agreements for the Bank and Branch, including operational resilience, outsourcing, data privacy and UK GDPR etcProvide sound legal advice and support to the various departments and stakeholders in the Bank, including senior management, and the Branch network within the UK, relating to commercial agreementsIdentifying need for external counsel where appropriate and allocating work accordingly between in-house and external lawyers, ensuring cost effectivenessResponsibility for briefing and managing external counsel, ensuring adherence to budget and high quality work product and deliverablesAssisting on broader, bank-wide legal risk management projects including drafting and implementing relevant policies and proceduresEnsuring prompt reporting and escalation of legal risk and relevant matters to HODManaging competing work priorities and deliver high quality and efficient service to the BankAssisting HOD with any other tasks and projects, as may be required from time to timeIf the role is of interest and you would like further information, please contact Brian Littleton at Chadwick Nott on or or at*Where a level of experience is indicated, this is a guideline only and represents the amount of time we would usually expect a candidate to accumulate the requisite level of experience.
