Job Description

General Summary:

Research Associate, Lab of the future implementation, 12 months FTC

As a key member of the Oxford research site "Lab of Our Future" implementation team, you will assist the transformation of the lab environment through process simplification, streamlined data capture and tracking. You will be involved in the deployment of a new inventory software and a Research management ecosystem. Daily operations include registering cold storage devices and biological entities into database; checking connectivity between samples, instruments, and data; deploying, and setting up IT equipment such as barcode printers and scanners in the labs. The successful candidate will also have an in-depth training to use an Electronic Lab Notebook and will help other scientists to transition to the new environment.

The position requires a high degree of reliability, attention to details, problem-solving attitude, and strong communication skills.

Strong background in biological science nomenclature and IT proficiency will be essential.

All required on-site training will be offered to the successful candidate.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Sample handling, registration, and database management
  • Referencing instruments and test connectivity between platforms
  • Support the Implementation leads into the deployment of a new Research software ecosystem

Knowledge and skills:

  • Organized & attention to details
  • Commitment to data integrity and lab safety
  • Experience working in health/life science environment and a good background in biology
  • Strong IT skills and willing to learn new software and tools
  • Problem solving attitude and creativity
  • Team player
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of Oracle SQL will be an advantage but not required

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or IT
  • Experience working in health/life sciences wet lab environment
