The acute team works with adults in inpatient bedsand provides speech and language therapy input for communication and swallowingdisorders. The postholder will work collaboratively within relevantmulti-disciplinary teams to ensure best practice and care is provided. Thecandidate will have proven post graduate training in dysphagia and experienceof working on acute hospital wards as well as awareness and experience of therequirement for excellence in clinical record keeping. The candidate will beable to work autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
To provide clinical Speech & Language Therapyto a defined specialised caseload as part of the acute hospital team
To provide a Speech & Language Therapy Serviceto adults with voice, swallowing and communication disorders
To use specialist knowledge to inform soundclinical judgements/decision making for case management
To make a differential diagnosis on clientscommunication/swallowing on the basis of evidence from assessment seekingadvice as appropriate
To develop clear care plans based on best practice
To maintain up to date, concise and accurate casenotes in line with RCSLT professional standards and local trust policies
To manage and prioritise own caseload independently
