The position of Executive Director at the Literacy Council of Norristown (LCN) is a key role within the organization, reporting directly to the Board of Directors. As the Executive Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all program activities of LCN to ensure they align with the organization's mission and policies. You will provide leadership to staff members, manage day-to-day operations, and represent LCN in various events and activities. Additionally, you will serve as the primary professional resource to the Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit grant proposals for State and Federal funding
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, foundations, and businesses
  • Oversee fundraising activities and annual appeals

Financial Management:

  • Manage Program and Staff finances
  • Oversee budgeting and reporting to the Board
  • Supervise donor gratitude campaigns

Board Relationship Management:

  • Collaborate with the Board on policy development and strategic planning

Promotion and Community Engagement:

  • Act as a liaison with community agencies and organizations
  • Plan and coordinate community events
  • Promote LCN activities and supervise staff

Facility Oversight:

  • Coordinate with facility providers
  • Ensure office operations and student services run smoothly
  • Manage student admissions and educational programs
  • Oversee record-keeping and data submission
  • Manage ESOL classes and student assessments
  • Provide teaching or management support as needed

Professional Development:

  • Attend workshops and seminars for personal and team growth
  • Develop team members' skills and provide feedback
  • Inspire and champion positive change

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, Masters in Nonprofit Management, Social Work, or Business Administration a plus
  • Experience in ESOL or adult education
  • Knowledge of online education resources
  • 5+ years in nonprofit management and operations
  • Proficiency in Spanish is desirable
