ROLE SUMMARY

This is a UK based role working in the Global Workplace Experience (GWE) team assisting PRD sites within the UK and across Europe. PGS functions co-located at PRD sites will also be assisted. This individual is accountable for ensuring operations are enabled at PRD sites by delivering Facility Management, effective maintenance activities to ensure reliability of PRD assets, designing & implementing safe work practices, with the aim of continuously enhancing colleague workplace experience.

The R&D Operations Manager has budgetary responsibility and is expected to contribute to the annual capital planning process. Project planning, coordination, and management to deliver continuous improvement is a key element of this role, as well as having the ability to troubleshoot day to day equipment issues and deliver first line fixes. Contributing to Pfizer's net zero and sustainability targets will be an important part of continuous improvement. The R&D Operations Manager will be accountable for security at the PRD sites.

The R&D Operations Manager is required to work in close partnership with Pfizer global partners, contractors, and landlords to ensure science is enabled and scientists have the best workplaces to deliver breakthroughs that change patients' lives. This manager will have strong connections to and partner closely with other PRD GWE supported sites, Global Environmental Health and Safety, Procurement, Finance, and Global Technology & Engineering.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Assisting the PRD International sites outside of North America and co-located PGS organizations.

Capital planning to assist continuous improvement for the International PRD sites. Delivering projects through project management including contractor supervision, cost management, always ensuring safe works.

Sustainability through energy improvements within Pfizer leased space or in partnership with the site landlord. Implement industry best practice reliability and sustainability-based maintenance techniques to drive improvements in asset availability, energy efficiency and reliability at minimum cost.

Trouble-shooting facility, utility, and equipment issues at sites. Ensuring continuous improvement in reliability of assets.

Laboratory instrument assistance SME, including ability for first fix and triaging problems for resolution by assisting vendors and contractors.

Budget & cost control. Continuously seek to identify and implement ideas for cost reduction. Monitor cost and performance of key subcontractors to ensure effective service delivery, compliance, and value for money.

Building robust Business Continuity plans and business resilience for GWE models.

Constructing management systems to ensure compliance to the necessary standards in the following:

Engineering strategies based on the Global Reliability Programme, Integrated Manufacturing Excellence, and ISPE guidelines.

Environmental, Health & Safety based on the Global EHS standards.

Quality based on the Pfizer Quality Standards where appropriate or applicable ISOs.

Fire life safety, ensuring fire risk assessments are in place for each site.

Lead and ensure all relevant HAZOP/FMEA/RA evaluations across the business are in place to deliver robust and controlled equipment/utilities that meets the technical requirements of the operational group.

Site security according to Global Security Minimum Security Requirements.

The Operations Manager will assume the following roles:

Sandwich Site Security Officer.

Legionella expert to ensure L8 compliance at all sites.

PSSR & LOLER lead.

Pfizer Responsible Person, Safe Systems of Work lead.

Internal and external liaison with all customer/partner groups within R&D Rest of World. Liaise effectively with relevant internal and external stakeholders to align GWE assistance with customer business objectives. These will include PSSM, BTx, PGS, IFM partner, GWE EMEA, finance, PX, external suppliers, GT&E/PGE, regulatory bodies, GEHS, GQA, and the site landlords.

QUALIFICATIONS

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

HNC in engineering discipline or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Showcases extensive in-role experience within the Pharmaceutical Industry

Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles for a pharmaceutical research facility, specific expert knowledge of services such as HVAC, water purification, etc.

Experience of assisting laboratory instrumentation.

Comprehensive knowledge of engineering operations including instruments, controls and mechanical aspects of pharmaceutical facilities and laboratories.

Knowledge of cGMP and management of quality through quality systems.

Experience of FMEA, RCFA, Risk Assessment, change control, etc.

Planning and organisational skills to project manage the delivery of capital projects.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Travel to PRD sites across the UK and Europe.

Out of Hours supervision of contractor work, including weekends.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
