Salaries range from £23,000 to £25,500.00 per annum pro rata

Permanent, Part-Time (20 hours per week)

G4S Care & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) effectively manages various prison facilities and community contracts, focusing on rehabilitating offenders for successful reintegration into society. Our main goal is to provide a secure environment where both our staff and service users feel safe.

We are seeking an experienced Family Support Worker to join our dynamic team and assist prisoners, their children, and families with a variety of issues.

The ideal candidate will provide top-notch family support services by utilizing dedicated helplines, play areas, and other departmental resources to strengthen family bonds and reduce recidivism.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver high-quality support via family and prisoner helplines
  • Provide one-on-one assistance to prisoners on family matters
  • Support prisoners during domestic visits
  • Collaborate with volunteers and students
  • Make appropriate referrals to other agencies
  • Establish and maintain communication between offenders and their families
  • Keep families informed of relevant events
  • Ensure accurate information sharing between the facility and families
  • Support children and families during visits
  • Participate in relevant training
  • Assist with data collection for reports
  • Communicate effectively with the public
  • Collaborate with external agencies
  • Promote best practices for families suggested by relevant organizations
  • Build positive relationships with prison staff and other stakeholders
  • Help manage the refreshment area and support Family Intervention Programs
  • Promote a positive Health & Safety culture onsite

Essential Skills

  • Familiarity with the Family and Significant Others agenda
  • Exemplary customer service skills
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities
  • Understanding of data protection and GDPR
  • Experience in supporting and managing others
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable Skills

  • Background in the criminal justice sector
  • Relevant vocational or voluntary experience
  • Proficiency in software applications like Google, Word, and Excel
  • Motivated and innovative approach to work
  • Belief in the potential for positive life changes
