The Head of Apprenticeships will lead our apprenticeship provision nationally. You will drive the continued development of our services to employers in our sector.

You will be accountable for the quality of our training, qualification achievement rates, support and guidance for learners and excellent employer relationships.

You will lead innovation; broaden the offer we make and create sustainable business growth.

The Role

General

  • Develop our service to the sector.
  • Broaden our offer to employers.
  • Build on current strength and drive ongoing business growth.
  • Support and develop our staff.
  • Cherish and promote our vision, mission and reputation.

Business Development

  • Lead the marketing of our offer and the promotion of the company and its work.
  • Be responsible for growing sales through strategic development of value proposition; understanding existing customers, exploring new customer segments and new products.
  • Drive and support learner recruitment through innovative communications, promotion of the apprenticeship route and employer support.
  • Engage in active marketing and PR visits to potential new clients, attendance and presentation at sector events and conferences, active engagement with media and communication providing advice and guidance, liaison with employer staff.
  • Drive positive recruitment maintain and develop a diverse and inclusive workforce.

Quality Management

  • Ensure the highquality delivery of all apprenticeships, including functional skills and additional learning support.
  • Meet regulatory rules as set by the Department for Education, Education and Skills Funding Agency and Ofsted.
  • Work with the Quality Manager to support selfassessment and quality improvement.

Staff Management and Welfare

  • Work with the Managing Director to manage effective team communications, meetings and working practices to retain a positive, proactive and engaging focus on our quality of delivery.

Management Team:
Quality and Programmes Manager, MIS and Compliance Manager and Lead Tutor.

  • Manage workforce and capacity planning; track staffing requirements and ensure smooth and stable support for apprenticeship employers.

Administration

  • Drive clear and effective administration across the apprenticeship business.
  • Maintenance of excellent Financial Health Assessment of the provision.
  • Deliver growth while building business resilience.

Safeguarding and Apprentice Welfare

  • Work with the DSL to ensure Safeguarding policy is up to date, effective and visible.
  • Ensure operations meet health and safety requirements at all times.
  • Support our drive towards a more inclusive and diverse workforce and sector; promote and provide equality of opportunity for all.

Skills and Occupational Requirements

Essential

  • A deep understanding of Apprenticeships and of their importance in workforce development.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of Apprenticeship operations and funding regulations.
  • Highly developed ability to maintain organisational control of operations and customer service.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • High level of literacy and highly numerate.
  • Digitally fluent with excellent IT and communication skills.
  • Confident and professional with the ability to work with people at all levels and to develop strong professional relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in conflict management and business negotiation processes.
  • Effective analytical skills and natural attention to detail.
  • Highly organised, capable of self, time and priority management, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Degree level education or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable experience in operations management and business administration.
  • Personal interest / experience in outdoor activities.
  • Have appropriate professional home office for remote work and glitchfree communication.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Degree or equivalent in business administration / management.
  • Qualification / experience in teaching and learning.
  • Qualifications / experience in Outdoor Learning.

Full time, permanent, hybrid role with home working and attendance at head office.


Remuneration - up to £46,000 pa [comprising £40,000 salary, £3,000 vehicle allowance, £3,000 OTE, pension scheme, CPD allowance, laptop, branded clothing, business expenses].
