About us
We are now recruiting for a Senior Conservator to join the Conservation & Collections Care team on a permanent contract.
The NCC is a collections management facility housing a vast range of objects from microscope slides to railway carriages, other objects are stored in repurposed aircraft hangars, sustainable hempcrete constructed buildings and other facilities dispersed across the park.
About the role
As Senior Conservator you will have both line management and project management responsibilities.
Working with Science Museum Group policies and protocols you will be instrumental in the development and delivery of conservation aspects of exhibitions and masterplan projects across the group.
You will work closely with colleagues across departments and sites as conservation lead, developing and coordinating conservation strategies for exhibitions, loans, acquisitions and transfers.
You will also contribute to the development of colleagues by developing and delivering training in object handling and the fundamentals of preventive conservation.
About you
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with good conservation experience, organisation and people management skills to take that next step in their career.
You don't have to have managed people previously, but you will need to be a good communicator with the ability to lead a team.
You will be able to work with a variety of stakeholders and crucially, you will have experience of working with others to deliver large projects, with the necessary project management skills and an understanding of how to produce budgets.
