The Role:
Our client is a leading foreign bank who offer both retail and wholesale banking products and services to private, corporate and institutional clients.
With offices based in Central London, they are currently looking to recruit a Trade Finance Officer tojoin their Trade Finance and settlement team.
Responsibilities:
- Download of Swift message types MT700 and MT707 from Swift into back office system
- Advising and Amendments of LCs
- Check content of messages to ensure workability, raising any contradictions or problems with Issuing banks; follow up with Issuing banks to conclude transaction
- Checking of documents and Payments under documents and collections
- Ensure appropriate internal ledger entries passed
- Ensure correct calculation/recording of tariff for each transaction
- Generate cover advising letters to be sent to beneficiaries with copy of MT700 and/or MT707 for direct advices, or MT710/MT707 when advising through second bank
- Arrange courier of LC advices to beneficiaries for direct transactions
- Prepare LC, or MT700, for subsequent checking and release
- Handling of all trade transactions.
- Respond to queries and enquiries from beneficiaries or issuing banks.
- Ensure proper filing.
- Take appropriate action on expired LCs including collection of outstanding charges and return of cash cover balances
- Produce required MIS on work area
What skills you will need:
- Degree plus basic knowledge in banking in operations.
- Good knowledge of Trade Finance.
- General understanding of financial institution / Banking and knowledge of general operational policies / procedures.
- Knowledge of SWIFT and relevant message types
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to identify, analyse and manage operational risks
- Ability to develop working knowledge of Compliance requirements, including Know Your Customer, Anti Money Laundering and Treating Customers Fairly
- Adaptable and flexible
- Independent and innovative.
