PLAYWORKER JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:
Play Worker - After school groups

Rate of pay:

Hours: 12.5 (Monday - Friday pm)

Base:
SPACE centre

Responsible to:
Charity Manager

The aim of the SPACE centre is to provide local children who have additional needs with the opportunity to play in a friendly and safe environment, as well as to provide parents and carers support, and the opportunity to meet others in a similar situation.

The core purpose of this role is to support the Project Coordinators in delivering fun, safe and accessible play sessions for children with additional needs, and their families, at the centre.

Main duties include:

  • Assist with planning, preparing and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
  • Providing comprehensive care for the children, supporting and encouraging them to engage in appropriate activities.
  • Assist in providing personal care for childrem.
  • Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment.
  • Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.
  • Administering first aid when necessary.
  • Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities.
  • Helping with club administration, where necessary.
  • Encouraging parental involvement in the club.
  • Facilitating good communication with all members of the organisation, parents, and schools.
  • Undertaking appropriate and relevant training.
  • Keeping the work environment healthy, safe and secure.
  • Working within the framework of the club's policies and procedures.
