Senior Embedded Linux Engineer at Linaro Professional Services

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Embedded Linux Software Engineer to join our team at Linaro Professional Services. As an experienced developer, you will take on the role of a technical leader in customer projects, working on system software development for consumer electronics and industrial IoT devices. Your responsibilities will include developing operating system support, bringing up BSPs for devices, and serving as a technical expert on kernel and operating system aspects of the project. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in open-source contributions and possess expert skills in system software development.

Main Responsibilities
  • Design and develop custom operating system solutions based on Yocto, Android, and/or Debian platforms.
  • Enable Linux support for various hardware blocks.
  • Bring up hardware platforms from scratch.
  • Develop and support continuous integration and testing.
  • Provide technical support and implement bug fixes.
  • Collaborate within a team and with the upstream community.
  • Drive significant features or improvements to enhance product quality.
  • Participate in open-source conferences.
Requirements

Applicants should have a degree in Computer Science or similar relevant experience. Key technical skills and experience include a minimum of seven years working with Linux for Embedded/Consumer Electronics/IoT Devices, familiarity with OS image generation, Embedded Linux experience, and understanding of ARM CPU architecture. Desirable skills include experience with Qualcomm SoCs, Linux DRM subsystem, and open-source contributions.

Location

This position offers remote work from preferred countries, with a preference for candidates in the United Kingdom. Candidates from the United States, Canada, and select EU countries may also be considered. International travel may be required for events and sprints.
