Description

We are looking for a Safety and Risk Advisor to provide professional Health and Safety support and advice to partner across the business, to ensure all incidents are dealt with effectively and that the client remains compliant with relevant legislation

What you will be doing:

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Writing regular communications to stores via relevant internal tools (i.e., Ops Bulletin, DM Bulletin and Store Message System) to ensure partners are kept up to date about relevant H&S topics, changes to procedures and/or legislation
  • Following up as appropriate with store and district managers to ensure any EHO/Fire Officer actions are completed and are up to the standard expected
  • Providing support to store and district managers on H&S related queries and issues
  • Ensuring all H&S related complaints, including claims handling and RIDDOR incidents, are fully investigated, tracked, and resolved on a timely basis
  • Following up regularly with internal departments to ensure input into responses is received in an appropriate timescale to ensure the timely resolution of enquiries
  • Attending meetings with external regulatory bodies, suppliers and other third parties to represent Client from a H&S perspective
  • Assisting line manager with the development and publication of H&S related projects including proofreading documents, researching information, and more as required
  • Providing input to other Support Centre project teams where there are aspects relating to H&S
  • Working with the safety administrator to analyse data, identify trends and use this information to inform decisions regarding areas on which to focus towards continuous improvement
  • Taking ownership for continued professional development to ensure sufficient knowledge, skills, and expertise to carry out all relevant duties
  • Assisting in the investigation, processing, and management of claims
  • Provides support on the management of insurance programs and policies
  • Delivers health and safety training across the business as appropriate
  • Holds team meetings with first aiders and fire wardens as required
  • Supports the launch and risk assesses any new products to be rolled out in store

Qualifications:

  • Certificate level qualification in H&S essential, from a recognised qualification route (i.e. NEBOSH, British Safety Council, CIEH)
  • Intermediate level experience in MS Office packages, including Excel
  • Ability to balance needs of the business against legal requirements and/or guidelines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with internal partners at all levels
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and changing priorities
  • Ability to prioritise work effectively and appropriately, taking into account emergency situations
  • Ability to use initiative, anticipating required support and taking (or proposing) appropriate action
  • Ability to multitask
  • Experience in a similar role essential, including experience managing relationships with external agencies (e.g. EHOs, fire officers etc)
  • Experience in a multisite retail environment preferred
  • Experience communicating and coordinating with internal and external senior stake holders.
  • Experience risk assessing safety procedures and equipment
