The Vice President of Programs – Community Life (VPPCL) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day program services at all of Denver Rescue Mission's shelter locations.

Advance the mission of the Denver Rescue Mission through the delivery of healthy, safe, and engaging facility environments.
Create and administer all Community Life budgets, requisitions, petty cash, and donations.

Manage the staff experience:
hiring, onboarding, training, managing, performance, conflict, payroll, time-off, retaining, etc.
Maintain the community relationships necessary for the ongoing and responsive program operations of each program facility.
Through the direction of environment-specific appointed staff, who serve as "property managers" for each site, ensure the day-to-day operational integrity of each program facility while fostering healthy, safe, and engaging environments

Facility Safety :

Partnering with DRM's Benefits & Risk Manager, ensure the Community Life team is appropriately resourced to facilitate both individual and environmental safety through policies, procedures, training, incident response and coordinating with emergency services.

Ensure the Community Life Team remains focused on facilitating ministry environments that are more Safe , more Serene , more Sanitary , more Secure , and more Social.

And through these ministry environments, ensure that guests are engaged in ways designed to increase the social capital necessary to obtain and maintain stable housing.


Guest Services :

Ensure front desks at each facility are appropriately resourced to greet each guest; can support case management related tasks, and all other site-specific administrative duties outside of those managed by other departments.


Facility Health:

Ensure the Community Life team is appropriately resourced to facilitate both individual and environmental health through policies, procedures, facilitating third-party health services and working as needed with state and local health departments.


Client Engagement:

Ensure that the Community Life team is appropriately resourced to facility healthy client engagement: staff and guest-lead on-site activities; Kitchen, Facilities/Maintenance, Custodial, Fleet, Volunteer Relations, Work Readiness, and Impact.

Maintain the relationships necessary for the operation of non-DRM-owned facilities; as well as to maintain a responsive and collaborative posture towards emergency sheltering and facility capacity maximization.


Chaplaincy & Community Care:

Through the direction of The Director of Chaplaincy & Community Care, ensure that staff are appropriately resourced to meet those we serve at their spiritual points of need – while they are staying within DRM facilities.

Communicate with the public through speaking assignments, community meetings, interviews, etc.
Perform other tasks, participate in project management teams, and complete additional duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree or higher-level degree in Ministry, Human Services, Social Work, Education, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred.
~Experience managing shelters, transitional housing, or supportive housing.
~ Experience managing staff across 24/7 shifts preferred.
~ Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills.
~ Successful track-record of work with low-income, homeless, and/or indigent individuals and families.
~ An active driver's license as a limited amount of work-related travel may be required.
~ Ability to travel within and out
~ Must be a Christian holding to the beliefs set forth in the Statement of Faith, expressed by a personal testimony and Christian conduct.
