Kitchen Porter/kitchen Assistant

As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, ensuring the smooth flow of operations and supporting the kitchen staff in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests.
About us:
La Bibliotheque is situated between Shoreditch and Dalston and the cuisine will be Mediterranean with Japanese inspiration.
Plates will be made using premium fresh raw ingredients with influences from Japanese cuisine and culture in different angels such as preparation, presentation, flavours and ingredients.
The menu will have a subtle balance between classic and experimental dishes. Additionally, there will be selected plates paired with a range of premium sake and wine.Key Responsibilities:
Dishwashing and Cleaning:
Responsible for washing and organizing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment. Maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen area, including floors, countertops, and workstations.
Waste Management:
Properly dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables, adhering to established recycling and waste disposal guidelines.
Stock Management:
Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper storage of food items and kitchen supplies in designated areas.
Kitchen Support:
Assist kitchen staff in basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and cleaning vegetables, as directed by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure all kitchen equipment is clean, well-maintained, and in good working condition. Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to the Head Chef.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all health and safety standards and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Adhere to proper food handling procedures and sanitation practices.
Team Collaboration:
Work cooperatively with the kitchen team and other staff members, fostering a positive and harmonious work atmosphere.
Ad Hoc Tasks:
Be flexible and willing to assist in various tasks as needed to support kitchen operations.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or in a similar role is advantageous.
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and handle physical demands, including standing for extended periods and lifting heavy objects.
- Attention to detail and a strong sense of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices is a plus.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
