We have an excellent opportunity for an Estates and Workplace Procurement Business Partner to join the Global Procurement Team. This is a 6 months Fixed Term Contract based in Edinburgh.

The Department


The Global Procurement Team support the wider business in the procuring of goods and /or services to enable the organisation's day to day operations.

Using effective business partnering we support the delivery of commercial value whilst achieving improved service and effective risk management within the supply chain.

The Role

  • Develop, implement and lead strategic business plan for the main Workplace outsource service provider.
  • Develop, implement and lead strategic plan for abrdn global estate portfolio.
  • Establish and build close working relationships with key regional COO's and stakeholders to advice and implement real estate strategy.
  • Driving value through asset management of the business's corporate real estate globally. Provide financial and commercial input into creating innovative property and FM solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with managers in the Workplace leadership team to deliver Workplace project and support new initiatives.
  • Lead in asset acquisition, disposals and critical dates.
  • Manager advisor relationships of diverse range of external real estate consultants.
  • Annual Budget preparation.
  • Leadership and management of the commercial relationship with the main outsource service providers for Workplace & Estates.
  • For other areas of Workplace and Estates develop key sub category plans across abrdn that address key business requirements and optimising group alignments using standard process procurement activity that is consistent with abrdn Procurement strategy, standards, tools, procedures.
  • Develop, implement and drive innovative procurement and relationship management solutions to address business requirements and challenges whilst maximising value and ensuring delivery of breakthrough results.
  • Leadership of interdisciplinary sourcing teams driving development of direct reports and other members of the Procurement Team.
  • Drive collaboration and engagement, ensuring the procurement strategy supports and addresses key department objectives and challenges ensuring that the procurement agenda is a key part of their department strategy
  • Develop and manage relationships with strategic suppliers, understanding contractual & regulatory requirements and supplier business strategies ensuring effective supplier and contract management to drive the maximum value from the supply base.
  • Ensure market information is up to date to enable competitive analysis and enable the development of risk management and mitigation plans.
  • Keep updated in relation to relevant management and procurement techniques as well as anticipating developments within relevant supply markets to enable the development of strategic sourcing plans and development of the Global Procurement function.
  • Extensive strategic procurement and supplier relationship management experience preferably in Workplace and Estates.
  • Track record of strategic results delivery under pressure.
  • Financially literate able to understand profit and loss accounts, balance sheets and the impact of cash flow.
  • Strong supplier relationship management skills and a high level of ability to influence at all levels.
  • High level of 'ownership' with an ability to think creatively, innovate and constructively challenge the status quo.
  • Ability to see the wider picture developing innovative solutions to business problems weighing up cost versus risk.
  • Excellent engagement skills managing relationships at all levels across abrdn and the ability to market the services provided by procurement.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills. Highly motivated, confident, credible and trustworthy with a strong sense of integrity.
