Depot Manager

Boden Rail Engineering Ltd is Based at Colwick TMD in the vibrant city of Nottingham.

We have a team of 14 engineers who work within the depot and nationally across the UK servicing, maintaining and undertaking heavy engineering on CL37, CL56, CL43 and CL70 locomotives.

The team consists of Electrical and mechanical engineers alongside fabricators and specialist contractors.
As the depot manager at Boden Rail Engineering,

you will provide leadership across the depot, with responsibility for the delivery of safe, reliable and presentable locomotives into service.

Y ou will lead and direct a team of engineers ensuring that they are supported in their role to work in a safe environment.

You will work alongside the production manager to ensure efficient productivity within the depot and in the field.

Experience of leading a team within an engineering environment is essential alongside a working knowledge of health and safety law and the risks involved with heavy engineering and the movement of railway stock.

When required you will be able to communicate effectively with customers providing status reports and be proactive in the escalation of identified issues with their rolling stock.

A minimum of 5 years experience in locomotive engineering is essential for this roleDuties & responsibilities of the Depot ManagerProvide leadership support to the engineering teamOverseeing maintenance, repair and production processes within BRELSupporting the production manager with production schedules and ensuring resources meet the schedule of works compiled by the production managerStriving to reduce expenses and increase productivity across all BREL servicesImplementing the companys procedures and policiesCommunicating any problems or obstacles to the production manager and/or senior managementMonitoring productivity rates, standards and quality controlTraining and coaching Junior EngineersParticipation in an on-call RotaHave a flexible approach to working hoursImplementing health & safety, environmental and quality requirementsEnsuring that equipment in the Depot meets Health and safety requirements, is calibrated and serviced to requirements and is used for intended purposes.

Managing day to day operations within the DepotLiaising with customers to ensure satisfaction in performanceSupporting the Stores manager with stock managementHolding team meetings when requiredSharing learning from incidents with the depot team via a weekly safety and communication briefEnsure team adherence to COSHH complianceBe resourceful in actively finding solutions to problems that occur.
