- To ensure that all areas / equipment within the catering department are cleaned using appropriate chemicals and following manufacturers instructions.
- To be responsible for the cleaning and maintaining of the dining areas and equipment / furniture.
- To ensure that all catering waste is disposed of following the correct procedures.
- To ensure areas around the outside perimeter of the department are kept clean and tidy.
- To ensure that all pots, crockery, etc. are cleaned, and stored appropriately.
- To ensure that all duties are carried out efficiently and effectively to aid the production, distribution and service of food.
- The checking of incoming supplies and putting them away in the designated storage areas.
- Maintaining good food storage procedures and stock rotation according to established procedures.
- To be responsible for the departments cleaning chemicals / equipment and materials ensuring safe storage, stock rotation and use following manufacturers instructions and established procedures.
- On occasion to assist with the following:
- Prepare vegetables, salad and sandwiches to a consistently high standard.
- Present and package food as required for distribution.
- To serve patients, staff and visitors with food and beverages in a professional and customer friendly manner.
- Health and Safety
- To promote and maintain hygiene standards required by the department and ensure they meet the standards set by the Food Hygiene Regulations.
