As QC Inspector based at our Jarrow Fabrication business, you will support the manufacturing workshop production activity by ensuring the timely inspections of Supplier raw materials, Ductwork Assembly and Ductwork Welding to meet the required international standards and project specifications.
Key Accountabilities
- Inspect raw materials, ensuring supplier materials received (Steel, RSA, Welding Wire, Fasteners, Gaskets) conform to the project specifications, are visually acceptable and are accompanied with appropriate certificates of conformity
- Inspect Ductwork assemblies against the fabrication drawing and the technical specification to ensure correctness of dimensions and geometries
- Visual inspection of welding to ensure the correct weld procedures are being followed, the welding machine parameters are set correctly, the welder is qualified, the weld is visually acceptable (leg length, profile, removal of sharp edges, no undercut, no visible inclusions, no weld spatter, grinding defects etc). Ensure the weld has been completed in line with the Welding procedures
- Carry out NDT of welds in accordance with the approved NDT procedures. MPI or DPI techniques are used only.
- Complete QC inspection paperwork and sign/endorse
- Advise the technicians of any defects and provide adequate instruction on any defect repair that may be required. Record corrective works on Punchlist paperwork and signoff when corrective work is adequately rectified
- Raise a nonconformance if an earlier QA/QC step fails to capture a defect that is then found later within the manufacturing process or if repeat defects occur within manufacturing that requires further investigation
Essential Experience and Qualifications
- Qualified and Experienced visual welding inspector (CSWIP or BINDT or similar equivalent)
- Qualified and Experienced NDT technician (MPI and DPI (BINDT))
Desirable Experience and Qualifications
- Inspection within a sheet metal manufacturing environment
- Inspection within a Nuclear environment
