Project Financial Analyst

Our client is the largest of their kind in Europe and have grown quickly over a short period of time through friendly acquisition.
The Group is effectively one company but is made up of over 200 separate entities.The Group have begun a Financial Transformation Programme to simplify their accounting processes which span across 20 European Countries. The programme has many workstreams with one being to reduce month end from 10 days to 5.
To achieve that they need tounderstand and review their current "as is" processes on receiving and processing all General Ledgers to then enable them to make proposed improvements.
We therefore need an experienced Project Financial Analyst.
The role will require this person to organise and facilitate sessions with a range of stakeholders to collect required inputs and review/analyse relating to the workstream.
Key Deliverables:
- Review current vs future state processes target and business case for both G/L reconciliation and Journal entries
- Identify tasks what can be done before traditional Month End including journal and reconciliation sequencing
- Collect all journals and identify the ones can be part of the "automated" ones (automated journal)
- Review /collect current MEC schedule : Periodic (quarterly)
- Finalise and validate the scope of "one enterprise level MEC Schedule"
- Create an Excel version of MEC schedule utilizing the current state deliverables and new outside MEC activities
- Prepare G/L ownership and reconciliation policy (G/L reconciliation) (risk, groupings, owners etc) also create reconciliation policy by account groups
- Identify current balance sheet reconciliation backlog utilizing new G/L policy
- Set up a roadmap to clear current backlog
- Create a country selection scorecard and based on specific measurement pick up the pilot market. Engage with the relevant employees
Person Specification/Competencies:
Essential
- Clear communication with a wide variety of financial and nonfinancial
- Strong academically — educated to degree level and professional accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA)
- Understanding of small companies and how they work, but needs big company
- Must have previous financial and project experience
- Strong analytical experience and a questioning mindset: this person should always be looking for where improvements can be made
- Thrives in a fastpaced, constantly changing environment — flexibility is key
- Excellent IT skills including advanced Excel, proficient PowerPoint and confident on various management reporting systems. Power BI dashboard skills a bonus
- Detailed understanding of financial processes
- Strong attention to detail and able to deliver 'rightfirsttime' results quickly without getting lost in the detail
- Deadlinefocused and willing to put in the effort required to ensure they always meet them
- Experience of OpenAccounts would be an advantage
- Experience of financial modelling and creating macros in Excel
- Experience of multisite accounting
