Research Assistant in Digital Twins for Robotics

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced software developer with experience in Digital Twins and robotics to work on the development of a commercial tool that will support the safe deployment of complex robotic processes.
Educated to MSc, MEng or equivalent level in computer science or engineering, you will have experience in Unity, C#, and uxml.
You will also have experience of practical robotics and the Robot Operating System.
You will join a team of entrepreneurial scientists and engineers developing a digital twinning platform for the design and development of robotic and other cyber-physical systems.
The role will play a vital function in creating architectures and algorithms for robot safety based on underpinning research by the wider team, and you will engage with experts in safety engineering and regulation on a regular basis.
By the end of the post, you will have developed a safety demonstrator and supporting materials to showcase your work and that of the team to stakeholders in industry and academiaThis will include:
- Creating an instance of selected basic safety primitives and concepts in code
- Integration of these concepts into our existing software.
- Development of a virtual deployment example, and demonstration materials
- Production of a physical robotic demonstration in the at Sheffield Robotics laboratory
