Vacancy Description

The Family Safeguarding Service consists of two locality teams, one based in Calcot and the other in Newbury.

As a Perpetrator Worker in the Family Safegaurding Service you will work with Social Worker's, Family Support Worker's, Mental Health Worker's and a Substance Misuse Worker to provide comprehensive and specialist assessments of risk and need in relation to perpetrators of domestic abuse.

You will provide intensive intervention with perpetrators to challenge, stop and prevent further abuse and hold perpetrators accountable for their abuse.


You will be joining an established safeguarding locality team and working in collaboration with the perpetrator worker based in the counterpart team and together we are seeking for group-based intervention to be developed and rolled out as part of enhancing our safeguarding service to families.

We work within the framework of 'Relationship-based Practice, taking a strengths-based approach to intervention.

We believe that identifying internal and external resources found within the family, and empowering them to make changes is the best and most susatainable way to see the lives of children and families achieve positive and lasting outcomes.

These offer quick access across southern England with London, Reading, Southampton, Portsmouth, Bristol, Oxford and Swindon all within an hour's drive of the area It is a diverse area incorporating the best features of town and attractive countryside.

Our staff are our greatest asset and you will receive regular supervision; have access to excellent training opportunities and the ability to develop your professional skills and interests.


All appplicants must be educated to degree level and have experience of working with perpetrators of Domestic Abuse in one of the following settings; Social Work, Health, Education, Probation.

A full driving licence is essential because of the rural nature of the district. Our main offices are based in Newbury and the outskirts of Reading.
