As a technician, your main focus will be to provide support to the school community, especially in the science subjects. Additionally, you will be part of a wider technician team and may need to assist in various other areas when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation and maintenance of experimental kits for Science subjects
  • Creating teaching materials as needed
  • Managing stock levels of solutions and consumables
  • Delivering and setting up equipment and experiments in classrooms
  • Collecting resources from classrooms and work areas
  • Organizing and maintaining an efficient laboratory/stores
  • Proper storage of chemicals
  • Ordering, controlling stock, and keeping an accurate inventory of resources
  • Regularly cleaning, maintaining, and repairing resources
  • Assisting in enforcing safety regulations
  • Performing risk assessments when necessary
  • Safely disposing of chemicals and waste products
  • Supporting software installations and monitoring hardware and software usage
  • Setting up projection equipment
  • Operating sound and lighting equipment
  • Performing other assigned duties by Senior Technician, Resource Manager, Principal Teacher, and Headteacher
You should have experience in providing science support in a dynamic environment, preferably within an educational institution, and should be familiar with current curriculum requirements. You must demonstrate a proven ability to understand and communicate technical instructions accurately, show attention to detail, and possess strong organizational skills. This role demands a high level of flexibility, requiring you to efficiently manage daily responsibilities and make quick, informed decisions.

You must hold a relevant qualification in chemical handling and maintain updated knowledge of safe laboratory practices and COSHH regulations.

The position entails working 37 hours per week during term time. If selected, you will need to obtain/maintain membership in the PVG scheme.
