Magdalene is expanding, and we are in need of a skilled Field Engineer to assist with our SSEN contract.

This role is vital, offering professional services for the SSEN strategic network and ensuring a smooth handover of services to the Project Engineer, the account, and the customer.

The primary objective of the project is to enhance the telecommunications network capabilities/infrastructure for customers. This involves collaborating with BT to install EAD and RO2 fiber services, a segment of the OTN build.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support project delivery for network installations, working closely with Program Managers and Design Engineers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate completion of both small and large-scale projects for SSEN, including installations, upgrades, and commissioning/decommissioning at customer sites across various locations within the SSEN estate.
  • Generate network reports and conduct analysis when necessary.
  • Ensure timely reporting to the Project Engineer and the account, meeting customer expectations and complying with SLA agreements.
  • Participate in both collaborative and individual installation projects, maintaining high-quality physical installations critical for network sustainability.

Requirements:

  • Conduct site surveys and audits, specifically within customer sites such as substations/HV areas, similar to UKPN.
  • Document survey outputs, including uploading photos and details to the team SharePoint site.
  • Understanding of Visio for creating survey drawings.
  • Support BT openreach survey engineers post SSEN authorizations.

Build:

Once survey results are accepted:
  • Perform physical installation work, including cabinet installations, DC work, installation testing, and reading site designs.
  • Complete partial installations and network testing on existing equipment, cable installations, DC power work, fiber optic tasks, and equipment commissioning.
