An exciting opportunity has arisen within the diabetes and endocrinology directorate.

We are looking for a highly motivated Endocrine Investigation Unit and Assistant Patient Pathway Coordinator, who will be providing administrative support to the Lead EIU Nurse and the Diabetes & Endocrinology team.

The post holder will be helping to coordinate all outpatient and inpatient admissions to the EIU via the St Georges computer systems 'Powerchart' and 'Access Management'.

They will also be validating the Day Case Waiting list and undertaking administrative duties including taking prescriptions to and from pharmacy, photocopying clinic letters and filing appropriately, pulling and tracking medical records in and out the unit for Day Case appointments, and organising meetings for EIU results.

The main duties of the job are as follows

  • On a day to day basis manage one's own workload always be meticulous and well organised, prioritise work to ensure deadlines are met with minimum supervision.
  • Be flexible with the workload and demands of the two teams.
  • Be proficient in the use of iClip, EPR, and Powerchart, to have a high standard of Microsoft Office skills. Be on hand to help other colleagues.
  • Take an active interest in the work undertaken within the EIU and Diabetes and Endocrine team. Keep up to date with the various tests undertaken in the EIU. Knowledge of these is important in order to deal with queries from other colleagues and patients and to have an understanding of the importance of the two teams.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of the patient pathways for patients coming in to the EIU
  • Understand and demonstrate the difference between booking a patient a routine appointment on the outpatient list and that on the day case waitlist.
