This is a physically demanding job where you will be required to work outdoors in all weathers. You must be confident dealing with groups of playful, excitable dogs.

The dogs safety is one of the main priorities so you must be able to turn up to work everyday.

We cannot take on a person who feels this may not be possible.
You must be eager to learn and work well in a team, open and clear communication is essential.

You will be responsible for:

  • Caring for the dogs: supervising them constantly throughout the day including play, rest and feeds
  • Safe handling and management of the dogs
  • General site maintenance which can include site/ equipment cleaning
  • Meet and greet with clients dropping off/ collecting their dogs
  • Administration duties
  • Engaging with potential future clients wishing to view the day care
  • Routine daily checks of dogs at the facility including physical and behavioural changes including dogs that are anxious or fearful about contact and following them up as per company protocol
  • Identify any signs of illness before admitting dogs to the establishment
  • Ensuring dogs are kept clean and comfortable: this includes general grooming and bathing and other health regimes such as cleaning eyes, keeping long fur from matting, inspecting for parasites etc.

You must be able to:

  • Demonstrate calm control around dogs
  • Identify the normal behaviour of dogs and recognise signs of and take appropriate measures to mitigate or prevent, pain, suffering, injury, disease or abnormal behaviour
  • Understand dog welfare and the 5 welfare needs
  • Recognise and identify dog behaviours, including aggression and the signs leading up to it
  • Aware of dog cleanliness and hygiene, feeding and food preparation, disease control and recognition and first aid treatment of sick animals
  • Work well in a team
  • Be physically fit/ competent
  • Demonstrate previous dog handling experience
  • Prove adequate experience and/ or relevant level 2/ 3 qualification

Schedule:

Monday - Friday. The working day hours are from 7am to 6:30pm. Shifts will vary from morning, midday to afternoon and on average will be 4 hours a day. Overtime will be available regularly an you will be expected to be available.

No weekend work
