An excellent opportunity has arisen to come and be a part of our dynamic therapy service at
Berkshire Healthcare Trust. This is a band 4 role-based at Prospect Park Hospital.

Introduction to the Trust, Ward & Team:

The post holder will be an integral member of the Allied Health Profession led Therapy Team at

Prospect Park Hospital.

You will work with the Qualified Physiotherapists to provide a Physiotherapy service to both adult and older adult inpatients at Prospect Park Hospital.

Patients who access this service experience mental health problems of varying degree and severity.
Your role will involve working with patients with Anxiety, Depression, Schizophrenia, Bipolar

Disorder, Dementia, and Personality Disorders.

You will have skills and knowledge to understand how these conditions impact on someone's motivation and ability to participate in Physiotherapy sessions.

The role is to assist patients during their inpatient stay through rehabilitation towards independence, increased functional capacity and self-management. Assessment for and provision of walking aids is also part of the role in falls prevention.

The role will involve delivery of exercise programs to patients on a 1:1 basis and also taking part in group work which may include leading exercise or education sessions.


The post holder will assist in; the production of statistical information; also, to ensure that supplies are maintained within the budget; maintaining training records ensuring mandatory and statutory training is allocated.

This role will also include assisting the Senior Physiotherapists with some administrative duties and equipment ordering.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with the MDT to communicate changes in patients' condition and to keep accurate and concise reports.
  • Assist in providing therapeutic care to patients, supported and supervised by
Physiotherapists

  • Assist patients to be able to use the hospital gym safely, assisting them in the safe use of equipment and recognising the need to monitor their progress and escalate concerns as required
  • Help run group exercise classes for both adult and older adult patients.
  • Ensure patients feel reassured and supported; manage potentially upsetting or emotional situations in an empathetic manner
  • Assess patients' home environment in relation to falls prevention on discharge
  • Recognise a deterioration in the patients' mental health and escalate this accordingly to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the patient.
  • To participate in health promotion as directed by the Key Clinician.
  • Indate HCPC registration
  • Enhanced DBS
