Production Team Leader

This is an exciting opportunity to be a Production Team Leader, you will represent a key role within operations and manufacturing.
you will be responsible for supporting the Production Manager and the departments team of staff you will ensure that smooth workflow is achieved utilising labour and equipment effectively to produce a high-quality product delivered on time.
Continuous improvement is paramount having a thorough understanding of lean tools and how they link to KPI's. Actively drive team and process to become world class.Hourly Rate:

- Week 1: Mon
- Fri, 6am 2pm
Week 2:
Mon - Thurs, 2pm - 11:53pm
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Support the Planning of the factory and be able to stand in for Production Manager where necessary
- Responsible for achieving production KPI's for factory. Be able to demonstrate impacts on business performance and how to put improvement's in place to resolve issues affecting the KPI's
- Plan labour for factory, raising resourcing concerns to the line manager when relevant and make appropriate suggestions to resolve the issues yourself first
- Review and action Productivity measure on a weekly basis
- Booking output from the production lines daily
- Able to deal with conflict in a consistent and fair manner to achieve the business objectives
- Investigation and documentation of disciplinary and/or capability issues to "Counselling" in accordance with Company policy ensuring that the line manager is informed
- Deal with grievances in accordance with Company procedure
- Manage attendance and sickness levels for your area in line with company targets. Ensure Return to Work interviews are conducted within 24 hours of staff return; raising concerns to line manager and/or HR Manager where appropriate.
- Manage underperforming staff by setting targets and deadlines and follow through in accordance with Company policy in liaison with line manager and HR.
- Undertake appraisals and performance review as and when required, highlighting training and development needs and ensuring these are met.
- Ensure adequate training is maintained to achieve a flexible work force, able to cover absenteeism and changing business needs.
- Where training is required identify needs and liaise with line manager taking responsibility to ensure that appropriate training is delivered.
- Set targets, deadlines and objectives for each member of the team.
- Maintain the training matrix, along with the HR department.
- Daily monitoring of Time & Attendance
- Identify issues and resolve.
- Authorisation of holidays and other types of absence, being mindful of Company policy ensuring that adequate staffing levels are maintained.
- Ensure employees are working full shifts, starting and finishing on time ('Bell to Bell')
- Perform Risk and COSHH assessments, ensuring that all are in place, up to date and that staff fully understand / signed those relevant to their role.
- Ensure quality targets are met and take the lead in root cause analysis (RCA) events to understand cause and prevent reoccurrence
- Fully support continuous improvement and lean program. Demonstrating initiatives with consistent improvements and measurable results
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of lean tools and how they link to KPI's
- In conjunction with Production Engineers look to assist in best practice and continuous improvement of manufacturing methods / processes
- Attend and support meetings when required as directed by management.

You must not intentionally misuse or interfere with anything provided to you for health and safety reasons. You must use all plant equipment and hazardous substances in accordance with the instruction and training provided to you and you must report any dangerous situations and shortcomings in the Health, Safety, Environmental.
- Responsible for opening and closing the factory as and when required
- Perform other such duties commensurate with the nature and level of the post as may be reasonably required.
Educations and Experience
- Educated to A' Level standard or equivalent relevant industry background in a similar role
- Professional qualification in production management, or equivalent experience.
- Engineering or industry relevant experience.
- Line Management Experience.
