ABOUT THE ROLE


We are looking for a Positive Engagement Worker to support and empower our residents and participants to maintain their mental health, be part of the wider community, and lead more fulfilling lives.

You will create, organise, and develop a stimulating and engaging programme of activities across our sites.

Rota:
Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00

ABOUT THE SERVICE


The aim of the service is to provide staged (High/Medium/Low) accommodation-based support to people referred by South London and Maudsley Trust (SLaM) that will allow them to address their complex support needs and prepare for independent living whilst also managing the risk individuals may pose to the community.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and facilitate Resident and Participant (R&P) engagement through internal and external activities.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of various creative education and training programmes.
  • Plan and implement a range of therapeutic individual and group work activities, and complete assessments.
  • Empower our residents and participants to make decisions and take control over their lives.
  • Recognise signs of deteriorating mental health and initiate appropriate interventions to prevent a crisis.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external persons and agencies including but not limited to Care Providers, Neighbours, GP's, probation services, and community forensic teams.


Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position.


KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in coordinating and/or delivering activities and interventions to vulnerable people
  • Experience and knowledge of mental health agenda and working with metal health services
  • Experience working with complex needs and challenging behaviour

What we would like, but not essential:

  • Knowledge of Psychologically Informed Environments
  • Experience of managing a hub or community advice/guidance service
  • Ability to take part in a range of therapeutic and work focused groups
